Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger has gone on to voice his concerns over Olivier Giroud and the red card which the player received in his game against Fulham, as he feels that it was a very harsh decision to send the striker off for the challenge that he
made.
Giroud was shown a straight red for a lunge in the game against Fulham. Initially it seemed like the player was given the right card for his tackle. However, based on what the replays had shown, just about everyone agreed that the player was given a red
card rather harshly.
Based on the replay, and the way things looked after people got a better look at the tackle, everyone knew that the player did not deserve to see the red card that he was shown. However, it seems like the FA think otherwise, as they will not be overturning
the ban on the player.
Giroud will now go on and serve a three game ban, despite most other players having gotten away with way worse in the past.
"It is a blow that we cannot have him available," Wenger told the club's official website. "We will have to do without him and we will do it.

"It's a harsh decision. After the game, I was a little bit less convinced that he didn't deserve the red card but having seen it again, I feel it's completely accidental and a very minor incident.”

"That's why I decided to appeal. I'm sad that it didn't work but we have to cope with it. You weigh up [the possibility of him missing another game when appealing] but honestly nobody could accuse you of a frivolous appeal when you see what happened again.”

"I thought 'frivolous appeal, no – but will they overturn the red card?' For me that was 50-50. But we were never in doubt of it being [seen as] a frivolous appeal."
Giroud also went on to admit that the decision was a very harsh one, and it was perhaps one that he didn’t need to see. When taking to his Twitter account, the French international is reported to have said: "Decision tres tres dure... Very severe decision..."
