Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that the club are interested in signing Schalke star http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lewis-Holtby-c22175, who will be out of contract with the Bundesliga club come the end of the season.
The Gunners boss said that Arsenal are looking at the highly rated 22-year old midfielder, but has added that the pressure of finding ‘the next http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296’ makes recruiting new players extremely difficult.
This news has once again sparked off speculation regarding the young German star, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 are also understood to be interested in Holtby, but Arsenal look favourites to land his services.
However, Wenger has not revealed when he opts to make a move for the player. The Arsenal boss can either bid for him in January or sign him up for free when his contract expires in the summer.
Holtby has attracted interest from a host of European clubs, especially since he refused to extend his stay with Schalke by declining a new contract.
Arsenal are expected to be busy this transfer window, and Arsene Wenger has openly admitted his admiration for Holtby. However, he insists that the pressure is always on because fans expect him ti sign the next Lionel Messi. Speaking to reporters, he said:
