Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is thoroughly surprised with the way http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998 has been playing, since the keeper has surpassed the Frenchman’s expectations.
Szczesny was initially promoted to the Gunners first team on an emergency basis, as the team was without a single keeper, who was fit enough to play a complete game.
However, ever since his arrival at the club, the Polish international has gone on to surprise everyone with his maturity and ability, as he has taken over the number one spot at the club on a permanent basis.
The keeper was back to his best this past weekend, when Arsenal took on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, as he made a series of fine saves to keep the Reds out of the Arsenal goal.
His most notable actions were the double save that he made, to keep http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348 out of goal and keep his side in the game. Szczesny first went on to save Kuyt’s penalty and then spread his body to prevent the forward from tapping in the rebound.
Thanks to his save, Arsenal got the confidence boost that they needed to go on and pick up all three points from the game.
At the same time, Liverpool’s loss now sees them sit ten points behind http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, which seemingly makes it impossible for them to go on and finish in the top four.
Wenger, who had previously been very critical of Szczesny and his performances, seems to finally admit that the keeper has started to prove his worth and show his true colours.
The keeper has impressed the manager time and time again and it seems like the manager is happy to have been proven wrong by the young Pole.
When talking about Szczesny and his abilities, Wenger is quoted to have said: "Yes, I gave Szczesny a bit of stick and he proved me wrong!"
"He is a boy of exceptional talent and he gave an exceptional performance.”
"I believe in him, that's why he plays. He is young, talented and gave a good performance. The target is to give another good performance on Tuesday [against Milan] because we need it again."
