Question:

Went over bank funds

On Friday I went shopping (with my debit card) and thought I had enough money in my bank account, but I guess not. All of my purchases went through fine, though.

I looked at my bank funds tonight, and my checking account had -$1.06, so I transferred some money from my savings into my checking. Will this take care of my situation, or should I go talk to my bank tomorrow?

  1. It really depends on your bank! If you were a customer at the bank I work, then you would be fine -- no charges would go against your account since you did the transfer. I would call your bank and ask them and you may want to ask them about overdraft protection. Even if this is a one time thing, its nice to have for peace of mind in case you make a mistake again! Good Luck!

  2. to be one the safe side call you bank -- tell then you will be more careful in the future!!!

  3. if this is a once in a lifetime thing,,,,do nothing.........If you are always playing real close,,,,go to the bank and get overdraft...it costs nothing unless you use it

  4. yes

  5. It was only a dollar and you fixed before the next working day so I think you're fine.  They might charge you a few bucks for being overdraft, but it won't amount to an nsf charge.

  6. It very much so depends on how your bank makes business, If you check in your online statement and it doesn't show negative anymore then you should be fine because you readily went and put the money from your savings to compensate but  yeah I agree with some others that you should call the bank tomorrow just to be on the safe side.

That does happen more frequently than you can imagine but next time just be a little careful because some banks really charge a ridiculous amount of fees for overdrafts.

    Good luck!
