I went running today for about 2.7 miles, i hadnt run regularly for about...1-2 weeks, within .7 mile si was nearly exhausted. I held through though and went about 1.7 miles without stopping. I took a 30 sec. break, and continued running, i went about.9 miles without stopping. Then i sprinted hom. Is this a good result if i hadnt been running in the past weeks?

  1. That's a pretty good result. I run cross country and track and after the cross country season ended, about 3 weeks later I went on a 3 mile run. I got tired about .5 miles into it (!!) and then I had to stop more than once to recover, only after 3 weeks of not running. I'd say that if you hadn't run regularly for 1-2 weeks and you only had to stop once, that's pretty good. :]]

  2. It is completely normal when taking a break from exercise for an extended period of time to lose conditioning.  It all depends on your own physical shape as well as your bodies condition(food, etc.).  It is perfectly normal, but next time try not to take those little 30 sec breaks in between distances.  The best way to get back into shape and push your body is to set a goal distance and not stop regardless of how painful until you reach your distance goal. That way will be sure to show the greatest improvements.
