I'm sure she said soemthing like lindemans arch...maybe not though. She meant that the TOP pf the foot was arched, between the toes and the ankle. She said they usually grow out of it though....do any of you know what this is?

  1. Yes, I don't know the exact medical term for it. But both of my babies had sort of arched, bowed feet until they were 2 years old or so.

Some people call it 'pigeon toed or chicken foot' that's what my very southern parents called it when I was little.

It's totally normal and will correct itself by the time he is about 2 years old or so. Every child is different but my daughter's feet turned more flat by the time she was 2.

Just be sure to buy his shoe a size bigger or to get them wider if possible. This way if he curls his little feet, then it won't cut off his circulation. Sandals are perfect for that the ones that have four point adjustments straps with velcro because they can be adjust perfectly to his little foot. And Target, Kohl's, Sears, and every store sells them within about $10-15. They are great for summer.

But in winter months, I got little mocassins/loafers for my kids because they are warm and roomy as well as they match everything. They look like booties and are perfect for warmth.

Otherwise babies this age mainly just need a pair of kicks, sandals, and water shoes for summer in neutral colors. But the rule of thumb is to get them in a size bigger because their feet grow really fast. Avoid laced shoes and stick with the velcro, snap shoes until he is old enough to learn to tie them so that he won't trip or fall down from them. And when he is getting fitted for shoes be sure to have him walk around in them and see his reaction to the shoes. My son is super picky about his shoes and I have learned that it's best to let him test them out a few minutes in the store before purchasing because once I bought a pair of kicks and he hated the red color with elmo on them. I never thought a toddler would be selective about color or design but they are. It saves money and time.
