Went to mexico, need help with lyrics, one ton of tomatoes....?

Question

As near as I can tell it goes, "one ton of tomatoes....."

then it goes to "one tough tomato"... finally it seems to reconcile the tomatoes drive to be the best with his realization that all the tomatoes are equally tough and he is just one of many tough tomatoes all living life the best that they can.

Of course I had mucho margaritas and I am filling in a bunch of the lyrics. Reading between the lines you might say. Seems almost as though much of the song was in another language though.

Anyone know the name of this mariachi standard?

Yeah, "Rockin Mel" has it nailed.... Not Mexican, Not Mariachi, but still a nice song

Hola.  Thats funny.  I guess it does sound like one ton of tomatoes....its actually called guantanamera.  Its a cuban song that mariachis often play.  Thanks for making me laugh!
