  1. Jamie is right, you establish what encryption level the router will use.

    Entry level is WEP; better is WPA; although some older lappers don't support this higher breed.

    Connect your computer direct to router (internet 'in' slot) with a CAT5 cable;

    open Internet Explorer & type '192.168.1.1' into the address bar.

    This gives the interface with the router properties.

    Select 'encryption' (or similar) tab, then check which ever you want.  It is at this time you will create your own 'Key' to access the internet with  wireless.  Be sure to write it down somewhere.

    Before closing the interface, 'SAVE' the changes; disconnect the cable; plug the modem into the router.


  2. you have to choose the wep, or security key when you set up the sucurity on your router, if you don't have it you will have to log into the router through a wired connection to find it.

  3. It is always on the bottom of the router. It is also known as the security code.You cannot choose your own wep key, believe me. It is already on the router!!!
