As for learning MX, go to yell.com ( internet version of our yellow pages ) add your location in the UK and then what type of business you are looking for, I.E, MX riding schools.

Failing that, go to your local dealer and ask if they have any details on local clubs or groups.

Most dealers will help you out like this, as you will need to buy a bike and some gear.
