Werder Bremen Sporting Director Klaus Allofs insists his side can win the title- Bundesliga news
Werder Bremen Sporting Director Klaus Allofs has insisted that his side is well capable of winning the Bundesliga this season. He claimed that the club can achieve a lot of success if it continues the current form throughout the
campaign. He further added that Bremen will play to win against Borussia Dortmund in next week’s fixture in the league.
Die Werderaner are currently second on the Bundesliga table with 16 points from the eight games played, winning five games and losing two. They have been sensational right from the start and are only three points adrift of leaders
Bayern Munich.
Allofs admitted that Bayern Munich are clearly a threat and have started the season brilliantly and it will be very tough to leapfrog them as they have some world-class players in their ranks. However, he insisted that every club
has a difficult patch in the season and the Bavarians will surely have one and that Bremen will have to take advantage of the situation.
The Director added that the club has surely come a long way from last season when they were struggling with injuries and were in some poor form.
“Bayern are doing their thing extraordinarily well, but they'll go through difficult patches too. Whether Bremen are there to take advantage, or another club, I couldn't tell you. We'll certainly do our best though. We were in
a different situation last year. We had a lot of injured players and there were a number of problems within the squad,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Allofs added that the team will play for a win when they face champions Borussia Dortmund next week in the league. He stated that the players have a positive mentality and will be looking to create the chances and earn the three
points.
“We're not in a situation where we need to play for a point. Our mentality is always to go for the win. That'll be no different against Dortmund,” he concluded.
Werder Bremen will face Dortmund on Friday, October 14, at the Weserstadion.
