Werder Bremen's Thomas Schaaf shattered after losing out to VfL Wolfsburg- Bundesliga news
Werder Bremen's coach, Thomas Schaaf, has expressed his disappointment over his team’s loss to Wolfsburg in a Bundesliga match on Friday. Both teams locked horns on April 29 at the Weserstadion. Die Wolfe emerged out as 1-0 winners on the night courtesy
a solitary effort from defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sascha-Riether-c32598 in the 22nd minute.
The 49-year-old accused his players for squandering a number of chances and seemed furious at the inability of his strike force who couldn’t convert chances into goals. As a result the coach was left dejected and urged his side to get their acts together
in order to get the winning feeling back in the ranks.
Schaaf further stated, “We were basically second to none in the game,” reflected Schaaf after the match, “We failed to build up the pressure in attack and were weak. The team gave a lot but it failed to be as compelling as it should have to achieve success.”
Schaaf had been Bremen faith-full as he started his playing career with them and got into the senior team through the club’s youth rank. He then started his managerial career with Bremen’s U-17 outfit in 1987-88 and gradually made his way as a Werder Bremen's
manager in 1999.
Bremen’s captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Torsten-Frings-c35477, also seemed dejected at his team’s defeat and hoped that his team could have forced at least a draw out of that game.
Further commenting upon his team’s performance, Frings told, “It was a disappointing game from us. Wolfsburg defended well and we were not dangerous in front of their goal. We are disappointed.”
Werder Bremen were not allowed to break free especially after Die Wolfe took an early lead and all their attacks were blocked by the steady Wolfsburg defence.
Now Schaaf has encouraged his side to put that defeat behind them and gear up for the upcoming fixture as Bremen are just four points short of falling into the relegation zone.
Werder Bremen are next setup against the Bundesliga's leaders, Borussia Dortmund, on Saturday, May 7. Schaaf would hope to lead his team to a win which could prove to be quite useful in terms of Bremen’s survival chances.
