Wiese claimed that it is the duty of a goalkeeper to make sure no mistakes are made but every player is human and errors are bound to happen. He defended Neuer and claimed that he is a world-class shot stopper which is why Bayern
were so eager to buy him this summer.
The Bremen player insisted that he knows the feeling as he has gone through the same when his mistake deprived his team of a quarter-final place in the UEFA Champions League in 2006.
“No, this is the business of a goalkeeper, a mistake must not be allowed. Each slip can mean defeat. Sure, 2006 in the second round of the Champions League against Juventus something similar happened to me. The pressure on us goalkeepers
is extremely high,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The German international wants to keep his focus on playing for the club and is not thinking of a place in the national squad. He stated that he wants to keep performing in the Bundesliga and the decision will be made by Joachim
Low.
“I do not think so. Of course I want to play; otherwise I do not need to go to the national team. For that I must keep well in the league. The rest of the coach decides,” he concluded.
Tim Wiese has so far made 232 appearances for Werder Bremen and also has three international caps to his name.
