The River Islanders have secured the signing of the central defender from the newly promoted Fortuna Dusseldorf for an undisclosed transfer fee.

Bremen sporting director Klaus Allofs claimed that his side has signed a quality player in Assani and is confident that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Congo-c2875 international will prove his worth in the upcoming season. The chief is certain that the player can
fill the void left by Mertesacker to become a great player for the side.
Allofs hailed Assani’s performances for Fortuna Dusseldorf last season and claimed that he was one of 2.Bundesliga’s best players. He added that the 26-year old will make a huge impact at Bremen and tipped the Congolese to solve
the problems in defence.
“We are delighted to have been able to convince Assani to join Werder Bremen. He has impressed with good performances with Dusseldorf and is one of their best players. His physical strength and his pace and tackling ability will
give more stability to our defence,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Lukimya-Mulongoti expressed his delight on signing for Werder Bremen and admitted that it took him no time to decide when the offer came in. The player thanked Dusseldorf on providing him with the opportunity
to perform at the highest stage and is looking forward to the new campaign.
“As soon as I heard of their interest, my mind was made up quickly. I had a great time with Fortuna and I shed a few tears to leave there, but as a footballer, you want to improve yourself and when every individual player at another
club has more quality,” he concluded.
Assani Lukimya-Mulongoti made a total of 63 league appearances for the 2.Bundesliga side and scored once in the process. He also has three international caps to his name.
