Werder Bremen’s Klaus Allofs admits Tim Wiese will not offered a new deal- Bundesliga news
Werder Bremen General Manager Klaus Allofs has admitted that goalkeeper Tim Wiese will not be offered a contract extension for financial reasons and the player could leave the club in this summer’s transfer window. He claimed that
Bremen cannot afford to offer the player a new contract as speculation rises for a possible departure for the shot stopper.
Bremen had a disappointing campaign last term as they finished 13th on the Bundesliga table with 41 points and won 10 games out of the 34 played. Die Werderaner failed to qualify for Europe in the next season after playing
in the Champions League in the last campaign.
Allofs claimed that the club has informed Wiese that a new deal is not possible because of the financial situation. He added that it could happen next year but currently it is not on the cards.
The goalkeeper’s current contract with the Bremen club expires in the summer of 2012 and Werder’s decision would surely put clubs like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 and Schalke 04 on high alert. Felix Magath’s Wolfsburg have clearly shown their
interest in the player whereas Die Knappen look for a replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424, who joined Bayern Munich this summer.
“We have told Tim that, because of financial reasons, we can't extend his contract at the moment,” Allofs was quoted as saying in an interview.
However, Tim Wiese has reiterated his desire to sat with the club despite not been offered a new contract. He claimed that he is happy to stay and will be with the club for the next season. The former FC Kaiserslautern player is
hopeful that he would be offered an extension next summer when his contract expires.
“That is absolutely not on the agenda. I have a contract at Werder until 2012, which I would like to fulfil and I can also see myself extending it again,” the player added.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Wiese-c35108 has so far made 164 league appearances for Die Werderaner in his six years at the club. The 29-year old also has three international caps to his name.
