  1. Far from it, beside the indigenous Australia. The first to live in Australia were actually convicts sent over from Britain. The amazing thing is, some of the crimes were so petty, like stealing a loaf of bread and it got them deported to Australia.

  2. No.

The first people to settle in Australia were the Tasmanian aborigines.    They were chased from the mainland to Tasmania by a second wave of aboriginal tribes invading much later on.

Europeans (mostly Christians) were the third major group to settle in Australia.

  3. The Aboriginal people of Australia settled the land somewhere between 20,000 and 60,000 years ago ~ the time gets pushed back with every new archeological find.

There is some evidence that in some places (such as Tasmania) they actually pushed out an even older group of human settlers, but that is lost in the mists of time to a great extent.

In the far north of Australia, there is a LOT of evidence, physical and anecdotal, that traders from Indonesia, the islands of the Indonesian archipelago, Papua New Guinea, Bougainville and even as far as the Solomon Islands not only visited Australia but stayed on, intermarrying with the local people and continuing their trade with others.

The European Christians were very recent settlers in this country, just a little more than 200 years ago.

Unfortunately, they were also the most disruptive and much of the long past history of the land has been irretrievably lost due to their aggressive policies of land aquisition and management.

    Cheers :-)

  4. No, the aboriginal people were here 40000-60000 years first, then the white 'Christians' started coming in around 200 years ago. The Christian missionaries were heavily involved in rounding up the aborigines, taking them off their land, putting them into missions, giving them lots of diseases, causing them to lose their skills to live on the land and making them institutionalized/dependent/demoralized (all for their own good of course).

  5. Yeah Christian were the first people from England.

Australia was first discovered be England. For them Aus land seems to be barren and useless so they transferred the criminals in jail to Australia........thats how people came in Aus.

  6. The first people to settle in Australia were the Australian Aborigines, more than 50 000 years ago.

The second group to settle in Australia were the British, many of whom were indeed Christians.

  7. When Captain Cook found Australia there was maps already made by 2 other countries but the natives were there for hundreds of years beforehand.
