Were George Bush's comments unfair?

Im not trying to start a debate here over his leadership skills, so I don't want this to turn into a pro/anti Bush argument. I'm just asking a question about this one statement.

I want to know if anyone, like myself, thought it was a bit tactless of Bush to criticise Russia's invasion of Georgia saying it was “bullying and intimidation" given that Bush ordered the brutal invasion of Iraq.

He also said: "The United States and our allies stand with the people of Georgia and their democratically elected government. Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected. Moscow must live up to its commitment to withdraw its invading forces from all Georgian territory”

He also made comments about Kosovo's independence from Serbia but that's a whole other matter.

  2. Bush's verbal over reaction to what's going on between Georgia & Russia is his way of diverting attention to the mess that he's leaving America. When a magician is performing an illusion with his right hand, he wants you to look at his left hand. Bush has decided that this dispute is America's responsibility. I wish that he would devote equal attention to the $400 billion in debt that he's leaving the next President, and the American People.

  3. WHO GIVES A c**p WERE IN US AND THEY ARE IN RUSSIA LET EM BE.......STOP MAKIN IT SEEM LIKE OUR NOSES NEED TO BE IN EVERYONES *** ,,,,,,,THATS WHY THE WORLD HATES US CUZ WE WANT TO SEE EVERY ONE **** AND WE KEEP OUR **** OUT IN THE DARK  THATS WHAT PISSES THEM OFF..........THIS ISNT ABOUT KNOWING UR POLITICS AND THIS IN THAT IS JUST COMMON SENSE.........YOU CAN SEE IT CLEARLY FOR YOURSELF ALL OVER THE NEWS/HEADLINES....JUST BECAUSE YOU KNOW POLITICS DONT MEAN YOU KNOW IT ALL

  4. I think the situations aren't even comparable.  When the U.S. went into Iraq we did so on intelligence that stated Saddam Hussein was trying to / had restarted his WMD program.  Therefore, we went in to protect ourselves, and the rest of the world from a crazed leader with highly deadly weapons.  Granted, that's now been proven false, but that was the situation then.  In the Georgia - Russia Constroversy, Russia has gone into, first of all, disputed land that was technically part of Georgia, and then proceed to go further into Georgia, onto land that isn't disputed and never has been.  Now they've had the audacity to station troops just twenty miles from Georgia's capitol, and threaten to take it (with and undercurrent that suggests overthrowing the democratically elected leader).  We went into Iraq defensively, but the Russians have gone into Georgia for personal gain, and to overthrow a democratically elected leader, that hasn't even made a threat.  Therefore President Bush's comments were NOT unfair.

  5. Yes, i think people in glass house should not throw stones.

  6. George Bush = buffoon

  7. Russia is bigger than America.

  8. We did not bully. Why is it that people fail to remember the first gulf war? Why can they not remember the conditions of the cease fire? Why do you not remember that 17 times he failed to comply with the resolutions? Why can you not understand that a man who says he has WMDs and has a cabinet post called minister of WMDs  is a danger? Would you sit idly by why your neighbor boasted of having an arsenal and that he was going to use it?

  9. If Georgia had attacked Russia he would have said similar..He always tries to make himself look to be on the side of the underdog..

It seems he cannot remember how many faces he has ..

  10. He's a hypocrite.

He should just stay out of certain things. and choose his wording correctly. Russia aint gonna listen to some old man anywho.

  11. he should know.

  12. Yes they were unfair.  We are still trying to take the job of the United Nations.  They should be speaking to Russia not us.  That's how we got our hands stuck in the "cookie jar" of Iraq and Afghanistan.  Plus we sided with Israel when they invaded Lebanon although it was not the Lebanese government that ordered the attack.  Bush and Chaney are like Bert and Ernie on Sesame Street.  Neither knows how to conduct himself except in the manner of a child.  Everything is take, "I want this, I demand that."  There is no "negotiation with terrorists" although they were holding some of the soldiers who risked their lives for the president's false cause.  However I can't insult Bert and Ernie because at least they knew when they were wrong and they apologized.  Bush didn't apologize for wasting funds and lives in Iraq and Afghanistan, Chaney never apologized for his secret part in outing C.I.A. agent Valerie Plame, Bush never apologized for stealing the election, Bush never apologized for doing nothing in the face of a recession nor high gas prices.  It is none of our business what Russia does unless they invade us or one of our allies.  Leave Russia to the UN council and work toward fixing the broken families, lost jobs, corporate scandals, conglomerate monopolies and daily attempted destruction of the American dream.  Thank the Lord of heaven that King George the Third's reign of terror will come to an end in January 2009!!!

  13. NO you cannot really compare this to Kosovo or Iraq because on Kosovo the US and NATO informed the UN for a couple of months and do a diplomatic negotiations to Russia before they came in. On Iraq the US use and practically exhaust its diplomatic power before it carried the invasion of Iraq and while they are building troops everyone is practically aware. Unlike here the Russians didn't even bother to tell any ambassador that a conflict needs to be address. If you're gonna look at it Russia said peace should be implemented as soon as possible but the negotiators are practically trying to ask Russia to stop their army.

  14. He forgot to mention Palestine.

  15. Your argument is fragmented.

This is a rant, and you're reported for it.

Since we had the cops shoot a suspect here yesterday, should we send one to shoot you as well?

We did not attack Iraq.  We attacked the criminals that were abusing it.

Russia is not freeing Georgia, they're raping it.

    Reported!

  16. Bush is an idiot, thankfully a lame duck idiot.

Bush invades Iraq and Afghanistan and calls Russia a bully.  Go figure. Is it any wonder the world hates us?

  17. Mexico, Hawaii, Cuba, Greneda, Panama, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan are among the ntions whose sovereignty have at some time been compromised by the US. So we don't need no preaching from Rev Bush-it. He's like those TV Revs that preach one thing and at night do something else, and some of them are/were his advisers and close friends.

  18. Not at all as one was to enforce UN decisions that were being blocked by France and Russia out of fear of losing oil income and against an international pariah dictator and the other in response to a country baiting another into a war by encouraging terrorist attacks against said country then making a territorial grab.  There are few similarities in the two and Americans are usually harsh on fascist dictators that are stuck in the 1930s like Fuhrer Putin.

  19. The second I heard hia statement I thought what an idiot,as if his regime hasn`t intimidated and threatened half the world,I for one will be very happy when his administration is dead and burried

  20. It's called "double standards".  All politicians practice it; Bush is an expert.

  21. Bush doesn't care about diplomacy, he's one of those who doesn't think before he acts or speaks. Look at the messes of Iraq and Afgan, he has tried his influence in Korea and Iran too. He has pissed off half the world plus his government with their nosy-parker like ways and acting like they are better than everybody else. Bush doesn't consider the future or safety of his fellow Americans, a more compassionate and intelligent president would put his/her people first and not second. That was why 9/11 happened because some terrorists were sick of American arrogance and guess what? innocent people got killed and injured. Standing up to terrorism using war and violence doesn't solve anything because it just puts the innocent civilians in danger not the people in power. Let's hope a more intelligent diplomatic sort of person gets elected into the world's super power before Bush flushes the entire USA down the plughole with his superior and stupid arrogance and hatred.

  22. wont be long now before he leaves the white house to spend his days swinging from a tyre
