Or were others smarter?

As you know, all of the other species of the homo genus family went extinct except for us, Im just curious to know weather we were the most intelligent.

  1. In terms of brain size, the Neanderthals had the biggest.

Other than that, there really isn't much to go on- it's not like we have IQ scores.

  2. is sasquatch a homo? because i think that they are smarter than us. smarter though, not more intelligent.

  3. What do you mean 'were' they?  We're still here.

Anyway, Cro Magnons (that's us) are the smartest hominids of which we have knowledge - at least, as far as we have evidence of such intelligence.  Further information may change that perception.

  4. The school of thought is that the Homo-sapiens that came before us were a part of the evolutionary chain.  Through natural selection, the traits that were beneficial to survival evolved and the ones that were not were phased out.  Our brains evolved in the same manner.  Historically, the Homo-sapiens that came before us were just as innovative, using their surroundings to create more and more complex tools throughout the generations.  I don't believe it's accurate to say we are smarter, just more evolved.

  5. Well, we did survive didn't we?
