  1. I think they were very happily married, they had their ups and downs, but then what married couple doesn't?  In general, I think they were devoted to each other.  They seem to have thought a lot about making each other happy, which is a sign of real devotion.

I couldn't say for certain that they were the happiest royal couple ever, but they are certainly the first one who spring to mind when you think of a happy royal marriage.

  2. The Queen Victoria married her first cousin, Prince Albert, on 10 February 1840, and he became not only the Queen's companion, but also an important political advisor, replacing Lord Melbourne as the dominant figure in the first half of her life. He was the only husband of a British Queen to have formally held the title of Prince Consort, this is considered to be a great honor. His death devastated Victoria, who entered a state of mourning and wore black for the remainder of her life. Queen Victoria wore black mourning for him for the rest of her long life, and his rooms in all his houses were kept as they had been, even with hot water brought in the morning, and linen and towels changed daily. She avoided public appearances and rarely set foot in London in the following years. Her seclusion earned her the name "Widow of Windsor".

When she first Prince Albert, she wrote of Albert, "[He] is extremely handsome; his hair is about the same color as mine; his eyes are large and blue, and he has a beautiful nose and a very sweet mouth with fine teeth; but the charm of his countenance is his expression, which is most delightful." Victoria, writing to her uncle Leopold, thanked him "for the prospect of great happiness you have contributed to give me, in the person of dear Albert…He possesses every quality that could be desired to render me perfectly happy." It appears her feelings and emotions towards Prince Albert never changed throughout their entire marriage life.

  3. I don't know if Albert and Victoria was the happiest Royal couple. I have read that Victoria adored Albert, but not really heard anything about if that was reciprocated by Albert.

Victoria proposed to Albert and definitely had all the power in that relationship.

I think the happiest couple were Prince Edward and Wallis Simpson, as Prince Edward abdicated the throne in order to marry Wallis. That to me indicates that they were pretty happy together.

  4. I read that their marriage was a bit rocky at first, so I will choose Nicholas and Alexandra, of Russia. Childhood sweethearts, they loved each other every day until they died, together.
