  1. No.  Nobody on the ground was directly injured by either.  Challenger was downrange and over the Atlantic at the time.  Columbia was over Texas open country.


  2. No, but several people were killed in car crashes when they tried to drive to where the debris had fallen.  Which just goes to show you, highways are more dangerous than space travel.

  3. No, but when Skylab came down in '79(?), a sheep in Australia bought it.
