whers the c, a pillar on a car and are there any others if so were are they?

  1. The pillars connect the body to the roof of a car. The A pillar is were the windshield is. The next pillar is B and so on. Most modern cars have an A,B and C pillar. The C pillar is usually the one with the rear windshield. Convertibles only have an A. If you look back at some of the cars from the 1930's, they up to an F pillar.


  2. If looking at a standard sedan from the side, the A pillar is the vertical (or near vertical) metal support structure between the windshield and the driver's window.  It's  what often blocks your view while driving. The B pillar is the vertical support structure between the driver's window and the rear passenger window (the top of the driver's seatbelt often ties into this). The C pillar is between the rear passenger window and the actual rear view window.

    If there are more pillars (such as a limo), they are named in continuing alphabetical order (D pillar, E pillar, etc).  The naming scheme is not side-specific, meaning that there are two A pillars - one on the driver side and one on the passenger side.
