  1. Awfully judgmental, arent' we?  No one can watch their child every second.  Especially a 16 month old.  You know, it could have taken all of 3 seconds for that to happen.  Don't be so quick to judge.  You know, this happened to Eric Clapton, too.

I believe there are many parents out there who are much worse than these that deserve your admonishment.  This was obviously an accident.

  2. I totally agree with you. I couldnt imagine leaving my son alone to fall out of a window

You can watch your child all day. My husband is deployed and I can honestly tell you there isnt a moment when my son is out of my sights. I have a video monitor when he sleeps just in case.

  3. some people shouldnt have kids its so d**n sad.they should be charged with murder...

DENISE- COME ON NOW.16MONTHS OLD. HE SHOULD BE WATCHED AT EVERY SECOND.THEY GET INTO EVERYTHING,THATS MORE OF A REASON TO WATCH THEM EVEN MORE.HOPE UR NOT RAISING ANY KIDS.....

I AGREE BUBBLES.WHO WOULD OPEN THEM ALL THE WAY...THATS JUST STUPIDITY. AND IGNORANCE. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR SOMETHING LIKE THAT TO HAPPEN

  4. Parents need to make their homes safer and be aware of the dangers that are there.  I don't think a parent has to sit in the room with their child, even a 16-month-old child, while they are playing, but they do need to be aware of what the child is doing and what is in that room.

Those poor parents must be devastated and worried sick.  You can't prevent every accident and every injury that might happen to your kids, it's impossible.  It's unfortunate that this has happened, but sometimes things JUST HAPPEN.

  5. They should be charged with negligence. Thats what it was. If they were there watching the kids, and not negligently leaving them with an open window...the baby is lucky to be alive, and deservs better parents than that. I hope they learn from this and are more vigilent in the future.

  6. Yes!! Thank god she is ok

  7. I am the mother of five children.  I also run a home daycare.  I have never had an accident happen that would cause one to wonder "where was the mom?".  I don't think this is because I am any 'great parent' who never ever takes her eye off of her children.  In fact, I turn my eyes all the time.  I go to the bathroom, I help one child with something which takes my eyes off of another child, I prepare lunch/dinner/breakfast.  I fold laundry, wash dishes, mop floors... (though not during daycare hours)  The point is at SOME POINT every single mom in this world HAS taken her eyes off of her child.  I do it the way most every other parent does it, I ensure the child's safety and I am turned away for a very short amount of time.  Even in that small amount of time, am accident CAN happen.

I have a friend.  She is truly the BEST mom I have ever seen. I look up to her (even tough she's a few years younger than me) in a lot of ways.  She would never purposfully make an unwise decision that would allow her child to be harmed.  However, three years ago, her third child drowned right outside her front yard in the VERY small pond that is on their neighbors property...not 30 feet from the front door, while her, her husbnad and two older siblings were all in the house.  Did this mom just fail to use good parenting sense?  Nope.  It was the first time the baby (19 months old) had ever crawled out of her crib.  Mom and Dad knew she was in bed.  They had the baby monitor on and were waiting on her to wake from her usual naptime.  Well, she awoke and climbed out of her bed and got out the door and drowned before anyone ever knew she was gone.

Could this have been avided?  Well sure.  If mom and or dad would have sat in her bedroom and watched her sleep, they would have surely seen her get up.  But they 'took their eyes away' just like we all do at some point.

The point is, you cannot blame a parent for every accident thier child has.  You cannot say the paernt is a bad parent just because some terrible thing happened.  If this parent allowed their child to play in a room that was known to be safe and free from all hazards, there is nothing worng with leaving a 16 month old to play alone for a few minutes.  Maybe the paernts were sure that the window wouldn't open.  If this is the cae, the fact that it did was a terrible mistake on their part, but leaving a 16 month old alone to play in another room for a very short few minutes in NOT a bad thing.

  8. royalbir couldn't have said it anybetter.    In an ideal world we could protect our children from everything, but face it we look down to fold our laundry, or wash that dish or what have you. We need to prepair of accidents and try to prevent them
