  1. Your best bet is almost certainly to buy them by the case.  If you are running a non-profit type camp or some other charitable event, you can contact the manufacturers directly and they may give you a discount or even donate the balls.

I have found that K3 tennis balls are good and last a little longer, plus they are fairly new and are looking to get their name out.

If you want to buy American, Penn is the only ball currently made in the US.

  2. If you are mass-buying defintately order them online

you can even ask for donations from local tennis clubs if you dont mind old ones

  3. Try eBay. I always see people trying to unload opened tournament used balls for like a quarter each or less.

I used to have that many in a few weeks myself back in the day good thing we bought them at Target for $1.87 or K-Mart for $1.97 per can new. So that was like $.65 per ball new just to give you an idea. The ebay link above works out to like $.38 which I find high but you need to check and see what else is available.

The junk ones you find at the Dollar store for $.33 per ball is not good for real tennis but might suit your needs too.

These are close to a quarter a ball but the auction isn't over yet.

  4. If you are in LA, I'll give you 100+ or so.   Three thoughts are as follows:   1.  Ebay is a good source but I think you could get alot of balls by 2.  going to the tennis courts and asking for a donation of balls or 3.  you could also post in Craigslist.org in your area.   People are generous and like to give to a good cause.   Good luck.

  5. it's walmart

  6. I don't know the prices, but there's two types of balls we've ever used in the clinic I help with.

One of these are regular Gamma balls.  I think they are practice balls, but they are still pressurized.

The other would be balls marked with "x*x".  These are balls that didn't pass inspections at the plants, but the problems aren't serious enough to merit completely wasting them.  These will vary in how much bounce they have from the get-go.  Some common problems have to do with the felt.  It's either bunched in one spot, or was slightly miscut so a small spot is missing.

I searched "x*x tennis balls" and found a site that has both the x*x balls and the gamma practice balls.  They are about $34 for 24 cans, or about 47 cents per ball.

One other option you might consider would be to get a bunch of pressureless balls.  They start off with a little less bounce than a new pressureized ball, but they never lose their bounce.  If you want to get something that you can reuse for a few years rather than needing to get new ones each time, this would be a good option.

Personally, I prefer playing with the gamma presurized practice balls.  They just feel better than the pressureless ones, and the x*x balls do have inconsistencies that can get a little annoying.

  7. Practice balls :

    Dunlop - $1 a piece

    Wilson -  $4 - 3 pcs

  8. I ran a youth's tennis camp for my city for two years and I always got my balls from local tennis clubs. Any club that has more than one professional instructor will go through tons of balls in a given season and they're usually more than happy to donate them.

If you are doing a beginner camp (especially with young kids) getting fully pressurized balls is a bit harder to learn due to the feel and bounce height. If you can't find any donated balls there are any number of people on eBay selling their used balls for what turns out to be <$0.30 which is a nice target range. If you had, had to buy new ones I would suggest pressureless for starters. Gamma buckets run $30 for 48 balls which is around $0.65 per ball.

  9. I would have to say Wal-mart....unless you can get them like at a Dollar General or something.

  10. Walmart
