  1. I would highly recommend going to your nearest animal shelter, and choosing a free animal there. This world is crowded with thousands of unwanted pets; every single adoption helps! Besides, the animals from the shelter can sometimes be the most loving.

  2. Most shelters charge around $100 for a cat that's already spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, deflead, dewormed and tested for disease. But that's going to be the LEAST money you're going to spend to care for this cat.  You're going to spend at least $20 a month for food and then there's the expense of litter, litter boxes, toys, etc.  Plus vet bills should the cat get sick.

So please think about the ongoing expense of caring for this cat - not just what it will cost you to get him or her.  And please don't get one if you don't have the means to care for one.  We really don't need to read another "My cat is sick but I can't afford the vet" post!

  3. You can get small cats with their shots from places like:

    > The SPCA

    > Animal Shelters

    > Take a risk and save one from the pound?

    > Trademe and Ebay

  4. Petsmart.  They adopt pets for about that price with their shots.

  5. Pet Smart or any rescue as they have shots and are fixed

  6. Humane society close to you will adopt our cats usually from $30-$60 and most are fixed and have their shots.

Look at petfinder.com and lookup your town to see what cats need homes in your area!

  7. Rescue one from the humane society.

  8. If you can't afford to spend more then $60 on a cat that has all it's shots and has been spayed/neutered then can you really afford one at all? They need to be taken to the vet to be fixed if not already, they need shots once a year, and food isn't cheap. You should think about these things first.
