Were can I get the top chopped off and make it a convertible?

I live in chicago and wanted to get the top on my 1990 cadillac brougham chopped and im looking for some recommendation and price.Thank you for youre suggestions.

  1. I'm sure you could by a chainsaw at your local Home Depot.


  2. I would start with some scissors. That way you don't take too much off during the process.

  3. You will need to find a body shop that does custom work.

    The top itself will need to be adapted from another vehicle with a similar roof line.

    This will be expensive as there is a lot more to this than you might think.  The top is a structural part of the car.  The chassis will need to be reinforced.  The body shop will charge about $100 an hour for the work and there will be well over 100 hours work.

    I would start by checking the yellow pages looking under body shops.

    Expect to pay big bucks for custom work like this.  Well over $10,000 for the labor alone.  Possibly a lot more.

    But you will have a car that no one else has.
