Were can i download a bootable cd that can be used to test my harddrive ?

you can also use the disc from Norton or other virus protection to check your hard-drive before opening the O/S.

before you turn your machine off leave the disc in your cd/dvd drive. restart mac pressing F8 and choose option ...Boot from cd

this will check your hard-drive for bugs etc that may be the source of any prob you are having. lol

If you know who made your hard drive then you can go to the manufacturers site and download tools specifically made for testing your hard drive.

You might want to try http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ which looks pretty good. There are quite a few harddrive tests on there. You might find that if you go to the boot menu before windows starts, there is a diagnostic partition. There is on my Dell, and it boots into a GUI with various tests and diagnostic tools.
