  1. If you don't want to spend a dime, you can check out http://www.handbrake.fr/

Though please note that free versions of mac dvd rippers don't offer many features which are essential. It is always true that you get what you pay for. So, try the free mac dvd ripper out and check If it meets to your requirement. You might find that you really need some more features.

  4. I would like to recommend you to try this tool: Pavtube DVD Ripper as i have ever used it. It works really well. Why not have a look and a free trial at first? Here is the link:

    http://www.pavtube.com/dvd_ripper/

Although it is not free and costs $35, I think it worth looking and will benefit you.

Also, there is a step by step guide:

  5. A lot of free converters, if they don't have a proper decoder and encoder attached will do a hatchet job to make it work.

You can try iSkysoft DVD Ripper for Mac. It's a great one-click solution. For whatever reason, the video and audio of the output files that are converted by some dvd ripper are not synchronous. But iSkysoft works really well, default encoding is 192/44 and the quality is excellent. The trial version should be fully functional for what you want to do.

  6. Handbrake may be the best choice, which is total free and convert dvd to MP4, MKV, AVI, OGM, AAC, MP3 etc.
