  1. Jerusalem Stone, a durable limestone developed over millions of years of ocean water, sand, and shells coming together to create a durable stone. Each variety reflects its own unique hue: bone, gold, grey and rose. Much of the stone contains million year old fossils which add to its depth of beauty. The family purchased quarries in Israel.


  2. Limestone is made up of the mineral calcite (CaCO3) almost exclusively.  It is, by nature, soft (#3 on the standard hardness scale of 1-10 used by geologists.  It is also slightly soluble in water.  

    So it just isn't something that I would consider durable.  Of course that depends on the application.
