  1. You could find a mouse that has been spade from a rescue. Any mice you buy from a pet store will not be neutered or spaded. But most likely you will have to buy a female from a petstore and then take it to a vet that will spade her. Or cheaper you could always get him a buddy. No it wont be a female but then you wont have to worry about babies.

  2. Your best option would be to just give your mouse more attention.  It's tough to get a mouse spayed or neutered--it's a couple hundred dollars--and it's surgery for the mouse after all.

Do not get a male "buddy" for your mouse.  Male mice do not get along, even littermates that have never been separated can start fighting for no obvious reason and ultimately kill each other.  An adult male will not tolerate another new adult male in his cage.  (Rats are different, they tend to get along fine, which is why people are surprised that mice don't, but male mice really don't!)

It's much harder to spay a female (of any species) than to neuter the male.  So if you're definitely going down this path, what you want to do is neuter your male and then get him a female friend.

But most of us who breed mice keep the males solo and just give them plenty of toys and attention.
