How free?   With a TV you have buy a set and  aerial,  and a television licence,  Then you can watch  basic programmes  without any further outlay.  Other programmes will require a  subscription ,,,   So   how free do you want it?

find out when your local garbage pick ups are.

people usually throw away old tvs the day of to be picked up.

or you could get one at goodwill for 20 bucks or so.

tv is a waste of time anyway. you're better off without one.

Your local authority dump will almost certainly have piles of CRT tv sets and computer monitors etc.

They are not guaranteed to work (although I bet most of them do) and the staff may not let you have one. You can ask.

You'll still have to get a licence to use it for watching tv programmes.
