  1. it really depends. maybe ask around your neighborhood or go to a "mom and pops" mechanic shop best bet theyd have it..allow about a good week if you really want to enjoy the trip..that sounds like alot of fun...but make sure the car is reliable...sucks if itd break down...best time hmmmmm probably around the end of summer or beginning of fall...if the car doesnt have ac then youd be safe with not riding around in a hot car.

  2. I assume by saying "hire" a car, you mean rent one?

I don't know if you'll find a company to rent on old muscle car, those usually always reside in the hands of private owners and collectors.

The best time to take the trip would be right now, because we are in the start of summer right now. All the way through late August would be the prime time to take that trip. After August, the weather will start to get cold, and it will start snowing in many areas of the country.

If you can't find old muscle cars to rent, maybe try finding a Plymouth Prowler, it's the closest thing to an old muscle car that is new. It's a roadster style car, and wickedly fast. Also consider a Dodge Viper.....not really comfortable for traveling though.

Here's a link to a place that rents all kinds of cool cars, and they have offices all over the U.S.

Go to the "select a city" pull down menu at the left of the page to choose a city. They might be able to help you find old muscle cars too.
