  1. Manuel, since you don't give your location it's a little difficult to "guess".

As a kid, we used to go to "Big Trees & Roaring Camp RR" in the Santa Cruz Hills. http://www.roaringcamp.com/

Check out THIS link to search for Tourist Railroads by STATE - http://www.railsusa.com/links/Tourist_Ra...

  2. Depends on where in the world you are...Sacramento, Ca. has train rides for the public on the old SP lines running south from Old Sacramento, down the levee on the Sacramento River,I believe they end in Rio Vista and comes back (about 40 miles one way) Excellent scenery, mesmerizes the kids as well....google the Sacramento Railroad Museum and take it from there.

  3. You can buy a extremely cheap one

  4. It's unlikely you're around Sac, but Mac from Sac is right on point.

If by chance nearby, there are the alternatives of the Rancho Cordova Live Steamers and, in the park at Folsom, there is a live steam train running, both are scale live steam railroads.

  5. The Commuter Rail or, if you want a long fancy ride, a lot more expensive but ride Amtrak Acela.
