  1. No, they couldn't have been. Though I have no specific examples to cite, there is one absolute truth about the society I am sure of...they were a hierarchical, patriarchal society. This implies that women were not equal. It's very difficult to find histories of the Arawak...though there are many to be found when the Arawak and Taino peoples intermarried, and the Carib and Arawak histories. I've yet ot find may specifics about the Arawak's....
