this tree was huge and for years we watched the owls nest and hatch then hunt...last year i heard this awful ywoull and looked toward the blvd thinkin a cat just got it,,,,then i saw the mother owl flying toward the oak with a cat in its clutches and the three young owl jumped out to the big power line and she flew over and dropped that cat above them and they gobbled and not a drop hit the ground...a national geo moment if i ever saw one...and the other day in record 100 s a huge explosion sound of crack and crush and it was blown to pieces....water oozed like tar from some of it the ,,nest was everywhere,,,,gone just like that....what happened here???lack of water? heat?? I'm sure in its life time it handled hard time...smog???
