the town of Skerries, just 20km North of Dublin Airport, with its tree lined streets and colourful display of flowers (participated in the "Entente Florale" and emerged the Overall Gold Award Winner The Best in Europe 1996) give Skerries a spacious and tranquil atmosphere ideal for the holidaymaker.

Skerries harbour is a major landing port for Dublin bay prawns and in season is a hive of activity. A large colony of grey seals resides in and around the harbour, also the location of the sailing club and several of the town's restaurants and pubs.

Skerries has a long sandy beach, ideal for children and safe bathing, patrolled by lifeguards during the summer for that extra peace of mind. A grass promenade runs the length of this beach, joining it to Red Island Scenic Park, with its fine views and free children's playground.

If you are coming in from Dublin You can get the 33 or 33A bus.

The Bus will go thru Swords Rush Lusk Loughshinny and then Skerries. It is a sea fishing village and during the summer months the harbour is packed. The two best local spots are Blue on the harbour anf the Coast Inn. If you are driving there youtake the N1

north and follow the signs to Skerries. They have a lot of B&Bs but no real hotel. One of the better restaurants in Dublin called the Red Bank is located on Church Street,and when you are finfished ther you can walk up the street about 30 seconds and have a nite cap in Nealons (tell Rita the Dub in Chicago said hello)
