Someone on YA said it the evporator coil may have frozen and needs to thaw.

Do you know were the evaporator coil is ? Is this on the indoor part of the unit or on the outside one? And how long shoul I wait to see if it thaws to start it again?

Thanks so much

  1. clean your coil with some non-acid coil cleaner like diversitech then clean the drain pan with bleach or drain cleaner an that should stop the water from running out fo the drain pan make sure u have coming out drain pipe outside ur house  it sound like just your coils an drain need to be cleaned

  2. Your evaporator coil is located inside at the furnace, either as a cased coil mounted above or below it, or as an uncased coil that will be located in the plenum (the ductwork that comes off the furnace and feeds the air ducts).

Chances are if your coil froze, you have either a) a dirty furnace filter or b) a leaking coil.  Shut the unit down for 24 hours, then replace the furnace filter and see if that resolves your problem.  If not, shut the unit down again, allow it to thaw, and call for a repairman.  A replacement coil will probably run between $500-700 installed.
