    it was not a railroad in the sense you immediately think of

    In order to be free slaves had to escape the south and make their way north.

    so to answer directly it was not really "located" anywhere but as a loose system of hidden trails and safe houses between the south and the north

    Slaves were considered livestock and property so anyone helping them was breaking the law and subjec tto very very severe penalties.

    escaping slaves were given a place to hide during the day and instructions to thenext station in the underground railroad to travel to the next tnight.

    The people that did this were incredibly courageous, they were literally risking their lives to help people they did nto ever know and would never see again.

It is everywhere in the northeast and even in mid-america.The people who ran it were of utmost importance in this country's history.They are the reason for the current political situation, and the freedom we all enjoy!I have neighbors with hidden rooms in 150 y. o. houses that housed slaves from the south when this great country was young and foolish.Please read everything you can on this subject, and see the bad and the good.
