  1. I think that you should consider how you would feel if you moved into a new home to find it left in a bad state, not good if you are totally honest with yourself. I am not saying fill the space with award winning veg, nor do you need to spend a fortune, but you do need to put the garden into a habitable space. You don't say but if you are renting your landlord is able to keep back any deposit and bill you to have a landscape gardener to put it right.

    its nice for the new residents to have an already established part, and a part they themselves can plant with things they like

  5. Throw a pack or two of wildflower mix seeds on it -- it'll make it look at least like it was planned, and if your moving date gets moved back, at least you'll have something to look at that you don't have to put effort into.
