  1. Bring Sterling and change at banks for best rates not change offices you will lose out using travellers cheques

  2. Turkish lira, I found the best way is to bring your cash in English pounds, alot of the change offices offer better rates of exchange than the travel agents in the U.K.

When I did change money in the U.K. Marks and Spencers offered the best rate.  I now always change my money in Turkey much better and more profitable

  3. Your best to take a mixture of currency (£sterling and Yeni Turkce Lira) and sterling travellers cheques.  If you wish to take a debit card then try and get a Nationwide Flex account as they make no conversion charges on currency taken from foreign ATMs.  Visa web site tells you the ATMs in your resort that will take a switch, electron

    or their other cards

Remember you will need a £10 sterling note for each traveller to get their visa on entry to Turkey.  Hope you have a great holiday.

  4. To get the best rates, use you're credit card and then pay it off that same month! That's the cheapest way!

Or if you cant or you dont have a credit card, use you're post office as you get the best rate there.

You can use Euros, or Turkish Lira....and even dollars in some places.

But if you are coming from the UK, bring about £60 as its cheaper to use this when booking excursions, and buying clothes!!!

I have ben to Turkey thrww times and have found it to be really useful, having different types of money!

But the best is Lirs, if you are just taking cash. Euros work out more expensive.

Hope this helps you, and have a great time.

Turkey really is a beautiful place

  5. Yes turkish lira, but they accept english notes and euros, in fact if you change some money over there they will give you a very good rate because they really like to have English money. travellers cheques is always a good idea though for emergencies! Hope you have a great time. I have been to Bodrum thrice and loved every second of it!

  6. Hi,

Just got back from Turkey yesterday morning (had a great time). Everything was priced in euros and we used euros however the lira is still the currency, my advice would be to take euros.

  7. yes still Turkish liras without 6 zeros.Always count on any bank for travellers cheques.Bit low currency but safe.

  8. Still Turkish Lira. Have travellers cheques in Lira and use to pay bills in hotels or large stores. Should you have to exchange your $ cheques in a bank, large fees will be charged.

    I once lived in Izmir.

    Tuerkeye cok guesel!

  9. Turkish Lira.
