    The middle class wanted more influence in politics to make France better.

    The middle class convinced the much larger lower class to rebel.

    Then there was a revolution.

  4. No, actually social inequality and injustice were merely facades that people like Robespierre exploited in order to gain power and start the revolution.

    However, the peasants revolt and the Women's March on Versailles as well as the bread shortage were the primary reasons for the Revolution.  Remember, ALL revolutions have an economic grounding.  The philosophical aspects are for the intellectuals.
