I was reading on the Reporters Without Borders website and it said the Beijing Olympics were the "Genocide Games".

Are they justified in saying this?

  1. Sports and politics should be kept separate. Its one of the cornerstones of the Olympic spirit.

  2. No. But I am disappointed that Beijing did not honour the human right as promised.

  3. No, even organisations as worthy as RWB go too far sometimes.

  5. Would Munich gamed be justified as Genocide games as 11 Israeli athletes were killed by Muslim militant?

Would Atalanta gamed be justified as Genocide games as Centennial Olympic park bombing killed two and injured 100?

So why would Beijing gamed be unfairly justified as "Genocide Games"?

Your source of truth for information can affect your making progress throughout rest of your life, so be wise.

Oh, almost forgot my stand, my answer is Beijing games has been a huge success despite some people purposely don't appreciate it.

  6. that's the stupidest thing i've ever heard in my life! and i WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE WITH 8888888888!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you should give him the best answer (or me)

  7. This is a reprehensible statement!

The Olympics stand away from politics and the day they do not will be the death of them.

RWB do some good work but on this one they have really embarrassed themselves.

From the time Chinsa was awarded the games this HAD to be a neutral subject

No matter what the political agenda or its importance, this was not the moment and it has the potential to do more harm than good!!

    Bad Call!.

  8. What do you mean "Genocide Games"?

  9. For rich westerners it's difficult to understand oppression . China is guilty of this and for some people the Olympics is a chance to tell the world. It is life and death for some and to put it bluntly more important than running and jumping. If these often violently silenced voices can be heard then that is more important, and surely a good thing. The Olympics is all about bringing the planet together and competing fairly, and in order to bring the planet together we must try to eradicate oppression where it occurs. Maybe now the world is more enlightened about Tibet i don't know, but it is at least more aware surely.

  10. I guess this is what happens whenever a world power hosts the Games.

The Tibet genocide is a frivolous claim, if you have ever been to Tibet, if you have ever met a Tibetan who lives in China.

  11. I believe they are referring to disappeared dissidents and killing pr imprisoning buddhist monks from Tibet, as well as the Darfur situation.  Reporters without borders are strong on human rights, where only North Korea is worse than China and Sudan.  The tibet situation is the textbook definition of genocide.

Yes I've been to Tibet, in 2004.  Frivolous?  Wow, that is an unbelievable statement.
