  1. Well we don't take things quite as seriously as some countries.

  2. By western media? Obviously that the answer is no.

  3. No point in attacking Australia because it is an insignificant figure on the world political stage.

I hope more games can be held in countries like Greece and Australia, so there is less political ammunition being loaded into the Olympics.

  4. I think you will find that if ths news broke in the middle of the Sydney games the reaction would have been much worse. the fact that only Indonesia and Fiji have an axe to grind with Australia. I will have to repeat myself again though every song you hear at every opening and closing ceremony is mimed. Though it is usually mimed to a pre recording of the person who is miming. Anyone who is shocked by any of this is amazingly Naive.

  5. No, everyone was looking to criticize China over human rights and Tibet and all that. This faking was just another bullet in their gun. There was no point attacking Australia because it was not in the public interest; the public supported Australia.

  6. it was not fair. china had more criticism than other countries.

in my opinion this just means that china did well hosting the olympics because i can't imagine a country like australia and america would treating other olympics the same good way except their own.

back in the sydney 2000 olympics everything was just so perfect 'according to the aussie media' but when it comes to the athens 2004 all i heard on the news was that athens stadium was not  finished and all the negative etc.

sorry i didn't answer your question properly.

  7. There are always people who look for ways to criticise, China is a big player on the world stage whilst Australia is in economic terms a very small place.  The biggest criticism of China was that they had one child sing but had a prettier child up front, it was considered a unjust way to treat the actual singer.  The Australians pre recorded their music but didn't try and make out that the performance was by anyone other than the orchestra.
