Were the UFOs some kind of modified spy air crafts?

During the cold war, people sighted more UFOs than any other period. I think it was due to the competion between US and Soviet Union lead groups. What do you think?

yeah they were spy crafts, there are no such alien crafts these are all spy crafts if it wasn't so  why did the navy officers sightings of ufo's frequently were'nt made public and was commanded to be kept secret by their higher officials.

I mean who dont wanna be famous talking about strange flying objects spcially when media was soaring high, they needed such stories.
