Were the ormondes ever a very rich and royal family in Ireland many years ago?

  1. The Ormonds were not "royal " even by their usurper standards

    The family name was Butler  and the designation "Ormond" means East Munster .. "OIR MUMHAIN....

    The only connection they had in family was thru Anne Boleyn who was born at the Ormond Castle at Carrick -on-Suir.

    Yes, they have been known to have a bob or two.. Kilkenny Castle , and  Caher Castle  are very impressive.
