Were they? (*i don't remember...I was like...13-14 at that time and I didn't care much). I saw the closing ceremonies last night on TV and i was blown away... I wonder if the past Olympics were like that...(if they were...I missed a lot!)

  1. I know what you mean. I was too young to remember also but I doubt other country's opening and closing were as amazing as Chinas. I think they exemplified what it means to do an opening ceremony for the Olympic games. Their performance was full of rich culture, art, excitement and pride. They raised the bar for all upcoming Olymipcs.

  3. Nowhere near as good...if china's was a 10, the others were like a 4, nothing this big before. I remember the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake city, it was nothing particularly memorable, I remember Leanne Rhymes sang, and the highlight was when Bill Clinton was given a cell phone of one of the Olympians who was on the phone with their mom and he said hi and the mom on the line was excited about it. That was the highlight of that ceremony :) So nothing like China!

I'm still watching the closing ceremony here on the West coast and it's so beautiful, gives me the chlls :) It's on the part with the human tower...it's the most amazing thing I've ever seen, they're saying they spent 9 months practicing just for this tower performance!

  4. Yes the olympics in Athens were amazing

  5. no they werent

  6. The 2008 olympics open ceremony is the best.  You didn't miss a lot.  I missed the closing ceremony though.

  7. I've watched the opening ceremonies since the 80's, and Beijing is by far the best. I wonder where you are, because in Los Angeles the closing ceremony is still on. Right now I'm typing because it's on a commercial break.

  8. The 'Human Tower' portion of the Closing Ceremony was absolutely a vision to behold. I'd personally never seen any thing near it's calibur in my 23 years alive. I felt honored and privileged to see, live, (on T.V.) such an exquisite and incomparable display of gratitude to the World, by way of a literal human art piece. I am still chilled, and blown away. I recorded it on my DVR. So it'll be, then copied to a DVD, and of course a VHS. (They're still SO reliable, lol:) If YOU haven't seen it, I believe the Ceremony will be re-aired for some time. (Sort of like the MTV VMA's - all the best to Britney Spears by the way) I hope you all enjoyed Beijing's closing as much as I. Until next time. Oh, And I am pulling really really hard for Chicago to be the 2016 Olympics' hosting City. What city are you oulling for? Thanx again for reading.

  9. Beijing 2008 is by far, in my opinion, the best. I was blown away by how advanced and well-coordinated they were. Both the opening and closing ceremonies were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

  10. They were good but I think Beijing Olympics is the best so far.

  11. Welcome to modern technology

A lot of the opening and closing ceremonies were fantastic for their time
