Question:

Were the refs told to have the Pens lose last night so they can get the profits of a fifth game?

I heard a couple of people with this theory. I'm ok with them losing. I'm a die hard fan but I'd rather them lose now than if we go to the Stanley Cup Finals and lose a game.

  1. Yes...and there was NEVER a moon landing.

  2. I wouldn't count on any arena money from Don Bardon, so the more home playoff games the Pens can have the better.

  3. Dumb.  Their are no conspiracies like this involving refs.

  4. Actually, I have been doing some research and NBC is behind the conspiracy.  They screwed up and didn't book any alternate programming for either Saturday or Sunday so they called Gary Bettman and told him to ensure that both series went through the weekend.  Gary was agreeable because he is tired of hearing fans complain about the extended layoff between games.  The recordings of the phone calls will be out on the hockeybuzz.com website later today.

  5. Sold those game 5 seats, huh?

  6. Please do insult your own intelligence

and Blah if that were the case why pull your goalie

  7. Jeez, enough of this!

NO THE REFS DID NOT RIG THE GAME!!

Philly simply outplayed them. End of story!

  8. Such whining....are you Sidney Crosby's sister, mother, or b*****d child?

  9. If you're really a die hard fan then you should know the answer to this question.  The Pens aren't unbeatable.  They were also playing a team facing elimination and they were on the road.  It's tough to sweep a team.  Fans of the losing team always want to point fingers at the Refs when they lose.  I mean wasn't this the same questioning after Dallas beat Detroit the other night.  Refs make bad calls against all teams and over the course of the series they tend to even out.

edit:  "I almost turned the game off after the first period.."  Clearly you are a die hard fan...

  10. no, pit wanted to crush em on home ice instead

  11. Who stands to get more money from a game 5- pens ownership.  You want a conspiracy theory, Maybe Mario tells the Pens players I need more money lets throw this game by taking stupid penalties and that way all our fans will blame the refs.

Yes there have been some bad calls in these playoffs but get over it the ref's are human and generally over the life of a series the bad calls balance out.  The NHL does not favor one team over another.  Plus with 2 marquee players like Crosby and Malkin I'm sure the NHL head office would prefer to see them in the finals but preferring is one thing, they are not fixing games.  Get real.

  12. Is this a serious question? Do you really believe that?  Some fans around here (not just pens fans) are just blind. To answer your question.  The pens lost last night because they were outplayed.

  13. It doesn't explain all our penalties.  Unfortunately the Pens played with a lack of discipline that they had in the previous games.  We were out played.  The Pens came out flat and were not as physical as they were in the previous games.  Based on how the Pens played last night, they did not deserve to win.  The officiating last night was not different than it has been in most of the East and West series.  Some calls go your way, some don't.  We'll see how the teams play Sunday in the Igloo.

  14. Rumor has it that Talbot pulled his pants down and farted in Malkin's face

  15. I'm a Pens fan... and I have to say, you're like the embarassing relative no one wants to be seen with in public. LOL.

    There are no ref conspiracies.

The Pens came out flat in the 1st. They were undisciplined, so they took penalties. The Flyers scored on 2 powerplays. They got a lead and held on to it well by playing a tighter defensive game and having their goaltender (Biron) perform solidly.

  16. Heard a couple of people with this theory?Pens fans perhaps? What will happen if we actually win another game?Who's to blame then?Al Gore for the global warming but not MAF giving up bad goals or the Pens looking bad in the first period.I also guess they lost the last game of the regular season on purpose too?

EDIT-cdn24-Did you get my BA from my Nascar question?I gave it to you but it was deleted after I gave it to you..

  17. Yes and the Pens pulled their goalie and left Crosby and Malkin in for the last 14 secs to make it look real

  18. Or ... maybe  Flyers were told to attack the puck and play a decent game, like they're more than capable of doing.
