  3. Both the toltec and aztec cultures flourished is what is known as Mesoamerica, a region which encompasses, roughly, Mexico south of the tropic line and Guatemala, Belize, and part of Honduras and El Salvador.

    However, both were confined within the limits of present day Mexico, so technically, they are not considered central american cultures.

    There is discrepancy regarding whether MExico is central America. I grew up in MExico and I was taught at school that Mexico is part of North America. But I know that in the US they tend to think of it as in Central America...
