It might've been the Bluegrass, but I'm just wondering what the name of the horse was that won one of the races that showed on ESPN. It was at Gulfstream and the name of the horse was Hey Ryan or something like that. Does anyone have the specific details?

  1. The horse in question was called Hey Byrn and the tote win paid $4.00 and ridden by Charles Lopez, you can find all the info you need at www.magna.equibase.com or for european results you can try logging into www.racingpost.co.uk, hope that helps you darling!

  2. The race was the Grade 3 Holy Bull and the horse was Hey Byrn.  You can read an article about the race and watch a video replay here: http://ntra.com/races.aspx?id=29550&sect...

Hey Byrn was a struggling Derby contender until he won this weekend.  He has only had 8 career starts, 4 of which were allowance races.  He couldn't win in his stakes tries as a 2 year old, despite the fact that they were only minor stakes at Calder.  He took a big step up into the Florida Derby (coming off of 2 allowances) and managed to finish 4th, but he was far behind Big Brown.  Then he made his next start in the Holy Bull where you saw him win on Saturday.  The field was really weak in the Holy Bull and Hey Byrn has only had 2 graded stakes starts so his chances in the Derby don't look so good, but he could be a decent horse later in the year.

You can see info about Hey Byrn here: http://ntra.com/stats_bios.aspx?id=31901
