Were there enough precautions before Katrina struck?

What could be done in the future to prevent things like that from happening?

If there was a citydie evacuation ordered, why did many people choose to stay? Would it be considered their fault for staying and risking their lives?

Thanks!

  1. Don't forget that Katrina was a mild Cat 3 storm when it passed over NOLA.  The damage was caused by the collapsing of the gvmt built levees

It wasn't the storm, but corrupt politicians that caused the problems in New Orleans.

  2. No one could tell before how big or exactly where the hurricane would hit. No coastal city had an escape plan that covers everyone. People have rights in this country and will not tolerate government mandates. Not everyone has transportation anyway. It is stupid to rebuild in the same area as this can happen again.

  3. As far as prevention, we can do all we want, but Mother Nature will do as it pleases.  I am more disgusted with the fact that almost three years later people are still living in FEMA trailers.  Instead of paying for this stupid war, the government should pay for these the affected's home repairs.

  4. Are you kidding?!  Bush had put absolutely incompetent people into positions where they had no idea what to do when Katrina neared shore.  Bush's idea is to destroy government, and he's been doing well with that.

And I know his own cabinet was as oblivious as Bush was to people starving on their roof tops.  Condi Rice was out buying expensive shoes.  And the republicans still haven't addressed the wreckage.  Probably not enough profits for their rich friends.

    DO NOT Vote Republican!
