  1. Not really. There were exact no male equivalents of Vestal Virgins in Rome. The Vestal Virgins were dedicated the the Goddess Vesta and tended the Sacred Fire of Rome. Only women could become priest(esse)s of Vesta.

If you mean was there an equivalent where male priests were not allowed to have s*x, that is a tougher question. Because they tended the Sacred Flame, the Romans thought Vestal Virgins had to be pure, thus the no s*x while they were a priestess (despite popular belief, they did not have to be virgins, and could have s*x after their tenure was over, they just could have s*x while they were a priestess.).

Male priests would be devoted to the other gods, and different priesthoods had different restrictions. I don't know if any of them prohibited s*x, but there were many with some strange prohibitions, (for example, the pontifex maximus was not allowed to touch a horse or look at a soldier).

Some of the Eastern religions which spread to Rome, however, required priests to become eunuchs. When the cult of Cybele spread to Rome, citizens were prohibited from becoming priests because priests had to become eunuchs, and the Romans (for obvious reasons) looked down on castration. Later non-eunuchs were allowed to be priests.

  2. That would be the eunuchs.

  3. I don't think so. I guess males didn't value virginity as much as females back in those days.

  4. Yes, but the details are not suitable for this Community. Sorry.
