    Good luck with your paper!

  3. i was and it did not do anything to me

  4. I never attended public school until I started college. I went to private school for five years until my parents couldn't afford it any more. After that they decided to homeschool me and my brother because of the bad experiences they themselves had when they attended public school.

I do think that homeschooling is a great way for many kids to be taught, but it's not for everyone. Some children really need extra attention and help and they aren't going to get it in a public school. Unless the public school they attend happens to be outstanding.

I was scared about applying for college and I took the SAT because I was convinced I was dumb and that I just wasn't going to make it. Well after making a 1230 on the SAT and then graduating the two year college with a 4.0 I decided maybe I wasn't dumb after all. I made many friends in my classes and still continue to keep in contact with some of them.

I am very glad that I was homeschooled and even though I did feel like I missed out on some things (track, cheerleading, etc) I really didn't miss out on much. There were so many homeschool groups that I was able to be a part of. I took a P.E. class, went on field trips and even went to prom three times! All of my friends think that it is so funny that I went to prom and I didn't even attend a highschool, lol.

I didn't always like homeschooling because I am a very social person and I wanted to be around people all the time. I was afraid that when my mom took me out I'd be lonely and bored. I never was though and I went to school activities with my public school friends all the time. When I heard about certain things that they went through it made me feel really blessed to not have to put up with those kinds of things.

I am now 24 and just got married in August. I am attending TCU with a scholarship and I plan on majoring in accounting. I feel that being homeschooled really helped me to be able to focus and become a great student. People may think that you need public highschool to teach you how to have good study habits but I don't think it does really. When you are a college student there is no one there to tell you what to do and that you have to pass or you'll be held back. You have to be able to have self-control and be self motivated. Homeschooling can be a great thing and I am very thankful to my mom and dad for sticking with it those eight years.

  5. My brother and I are both home schooled. We have learned things that public schools do not go into detail about. One of the things that public schools didn't teach us that our mom and dad does is how drugs and alcohol can affect lives. How it can kill a person or send them to prison. What can happen to them in prison. These are facts. Babying public school kids into the truth never works. Responsibility is the key to survival, not blame.

Our dad also teaches us how to be very resourceful without relying upon others. How to use our wits and ingenuity to stay alive and not beg and borrow.

In our home here we don't talk about the party last week, who has the coolest IPhone, IPod, or cell phone and we don't dare text message over our parent's lecture.

Our mom teaches us business math so that when we leave home, we can do our own taxes and balance our own checkbooks without the threat of the IRS coming after us or getting a negative balance in our accounts.

Our home school curriculum covers everything from automotive to social studies. We get plenty of hands on experience too.

In our home, no teacher will molest us, no student will shoot up the place, no bullies to attack us, no one to steal our lunches. We like the environment and the level of learning we are receiving.

  6. I home school right now. I don't know if you are looking for a person who is over 18 and home schooled their whole life.

But I may be able to tell you how it's effected my life, like being prepared.

First of all, I haven't home schooled my whole life, and the type of home schooling I am doing isn't the kind where the school system is literally brought into your home. I do a more holistic style of home schooling called unschooling, deschooling, or even just home schooling, and have been doing it since May 2007. I have completed 7 1/2 years of schooling. So I left school in the middle of Grade 8.

This was my decision, not my parents, in fact, they didn't want me to leave school. Like most people in society today, they believe in order to make it in the world you must go through 12 years of schooling. Which was be the case in the early 1900's, when complusary schools where first made.

My reason for leaving school was that it was the healthiest thing I could do for myself. Schools aren't meant for learning, but learning how to obey rules. They don't acknowledge the fact that people learn at different paces, styles, times, etc. You must creative and paint a flower by noon, even if you feel like doing math at the time, or reading a book. Or how young people only socialize with other people their age.

Personally, I do find that home schooling does effectively prepare you for life. I have more time to think for myself; to learn the things I want to learn; understand my likes and dislikes; and it just gives me a more love of life. And you also have more time to do community services, like volunteering which allows you to meet new and unique people and also gives you work experience so you can get jobs that you want to get.

  7. Homeschooling is the best thing that ever happened to me.

I do essays, research papers, exams, and presentations  just like everyone else.

Personally, I think that it allows for more flexibility - if you want to take off for the day and do something without having to deal with all the crowds, you can!  Just catch up on your classes on the weekend.

"Homeschooler = Social missfit " is a myth.

I have lots of friends and we get together alot.

I have a friend who is a Freshmen in Highschool (public school) and my 10 year old brother can read better than she can.

    Homeschooling is awesome!

  8. I've found that homeschooling hasn't prepared me for regular life in certian areas....

I feel akward doing certain things, being social, even when I do tests or do religious classes I haven't done things like that in so long, I don't know what to do (I like it better than homschooling though when I get used to it), Ect....

I don't feel I retain as much throughout the day....

I overall feel like I'm a part of nothing....

The pros are nice though....I can take breaks whenever I want, I can work on my favorite subjects as long as I want, I can wake up whenever, lol....I can take vactions whenever I want....

However the pros were nice once apon a time....They don't mean anything to me anymore....

    I overall dislike homeschooling....

However many people love it! And benefit from it!

    I just wasn't that lucky....

If someone asked me about it, and didn't want to do public school anymore....I would recommend it....But I would tell them, alot of things in their life would change....

But it can be a great experience! I just haven't had it....

It just depends on the person....

    =)

  9. I was homeschooled through 9th grade, then went to a private high school, and then to college. I was definitely nervous when I first starting going to school in 10th grade, but I adjusted quickly, got good grades, and made friends. I think that homeschooling and traditional school both have pros/cons and it depends on the student, as well as the schools in their city whats best for them.

  10. Public school i admit sucks.

    I am homeschooled.

I'm ADHD, I usually have an extreme diffeculty learning, and homeschooling didn't really help, basically I was completely detached from my friends.

I'm quite intelligent but my grades don't reflect.

it really depends on the individual
